RFID refers to Radio-frequency identification; this is a technology that provides identifying information about an object or person. This device is just like barcode scanners. The RFID inlay manufacturer comes up with the latest technology that as small as a rice grain, which is a functional RFID tags parts. This label part of RFID tags encodes the identifying information, the inlay used waves of radiofrequency to transmit information via an RFID reader to the computer system. The RFID system’s basic purpose is the distinctive traceability of animals, objects, and humans. The RFID provides them with tags of individual numbers.
It is comprised of two components; one integrated circuit and another component is a microchip. The microchip stores all the personal identification information which is attached to a small aluminum coil or silver or copper wires which are known as the antenna of the RFID tags system. The antenna of the system transmits and receives the signals of radiofrequency. Then the microchip and antenna are placed together on the label, now the complete unit is encased in the plastic to make a tag. From the paper to the plastic, there are various materials used for making labels. This does not use metals for labeling as it deals with radiofrequency.
What is the purpose of the RFID system?
The system is a combination of various elements. The elements of the RFID system are for storage, update, and reproduce the information interaction with others. The included elements are:
- The RFID tag
- The RFID reader
- Storage and manage data device
The information from the microchip of the system passes to the antenna of the RFID tag. The information is read by the RFID reader antenna and passed it to the connected computer system for archival, processing, and analysis.
Different types of RFID tags:
They are classified into two categories: wet and dry. If the glue is applied to the RFID inlay to a pressure-sensitive liner that contains the label, then the inlays are considered as “wet”. On the other hand, when the RFID inlay is attached to the label without any kind of glue, then it is considered as a dry type of RFID tags.
